Josef Gocar 1928-1933

A large church which is set into a steep slope of the green square of the Vrsovice suburb. The tall church clock tower rises from the wide entrance space dividing it in half and making its presence known to the worshippers. The monumental but simple central nave has a roof plane which steps up as it follows the slope of the ground outside.

Daylight is cast towards the altar through vertical windows in the roof. The chancel is round ended with eight tall vertical windows letting more light into the focal point of the church. The windows are decorated with a stained-glass design of St Wenceslas by a sculptor and designer, Josef Kaplicky (1899-1962). On the main altar is a large cross by Cenek Vosmik.
