A partly realized project for the Dablice cemetery was the only Cubist work in Prague by Vlastislav Hofman despite many scheme proposals, including the Palacky Square reconstruction and the Zizka Monument competition at Vitkov Hill. The cemetery project should have included a mortuary, a crematorium, a ceremonial hall and administrative offices but only two entrance pavilions with an enclosing perimeter wall and the main gates were built. Nevertheless, the mastery of the architect is clearly evident. The pavilion's stepped copper roof topped with a lantern, the eight-sided bulging windows together with the strongly modelled metalwork gates and crystal forms inserted into the perimeter wall show confidence and a delicate skill in dealing with Cubist forms.
