Oldrich Stary 1934-1938

Stary's building contains an art gallery in the basement, shops at ground- and first-floor levels, along a walk-through arcade, and offices on the upper floors placed within a tight L-shaped site fronting on to Narodni trida and a little street called Charvatova. The facade to Narodni has the top floor reduced visually to decrease its bulk and to conform to the planning regulations and the columns are set back from the slab edges. It is almost fully glazed, divided by a grid of narrow floor bands and thin vertical mullions giving it a similar transparent treatment to Kysela's Lindt and Bat'a buildings.
