But in several other ways we were definitely the right publishers. Jeremy Cooper lives just down the road from our office - an apparently trivial consideration but both he and we had chosen to move into Shoreditch well before the media-industry invasion hit the area,* so there was the first hint of a shared attitude. He knew and liked our books - we both feel that taking the care to find an appropriate form for a book is an important part of publishing, which is not something an industrial-scale publisher is likely to do. And we read the manuscript and found it both compelling and important: being a small independent company, we could decide to publish quickly.
